On giving

While on the taxi under a stopped light sign on our way home from the pedia visit yesterday, a little boy tapped on our window. He was begging. I remembered we have an opened pack of fita biscuit in my bag. I asked Neo if we can give it to the boy and he said "yah". After giving the biscuit, I said, "wawa naman yung bata, wala sya food".

Maybe the "awa" thing had an effect on Neo because when I was sorting his toys he said "give toys iba bata". I asked "all of them, Neo?" He nodded his head.

Kaya lang, may pahabol. "No give toot-toot" (don't give the trains).

Oh, OK!

November pedia visit

Yesterday, we went to see Neo's pediatrician for his after birthday check-up. The doctor noted multiple lymph nodes at the back of his left ear. The doctor suspects it to be dandruff although I said that he is having some colds and cough. We were asked to come back in two weeks.

Neo's ears, hearbeat and lungs were checked and were all OK. He is going to have Growee to replace the Nutrilin vitamins that he doesn't like to take.

The doctor also instructed to deworm Neo. However, I haven't bought the medicine yet. Maybe tomorrow nalang.

School Friday

After my post on Neo's changed behaviour came a happy news. Last Friday, he got a star and a report from the teacher that he had been OK.

Neo is just a very playful kid. He gets bored sometimes and tries to find some entertainment. We really just have to talk to him nicely and then let him be, without a lot of apprehending.

On turning three

Ever since Neo turned three, we noticed some not so good things in him in terms of attitude. As his teacher in school reported last week, Neo became harsh in class. There was a note in his schoolbook that said "did not work today". His teacher informed Ate Ner that he doesn't listen to the lessons and just roams around the room and crawls under the table. What's worst is that he bit one of his classmates! in the face!

We at home also noticed his changed behaviours. We talked to him on these things and he seems to understand because he nods his head and says sorry. I spank him once in a while when I feel that it is too much. Val would talk to him and would even solicit promises of not doing it again.

Everyone says that this is just a phase and I believe it is. His teachers say that he is a smart boy and it is true. When he gets over this, I know he is going to be a behaved boy all the way!

2 months after

Today is 5 days and two months after my craniotomy. I feel that recovery is still underway. I still feel weak in the morning and towards late in the afternoon. I can still feel small pains in my head although it subsided unlike the first weeks after surgery. I always feel very sleepy.

I have already reported to work since October 13. I can manage the work. So far so good!

We thank the Lord everyday!

Just this morning while Neo was on my lap and Val on the sofa -

Neo : Hindi sama Neo doctor
Mommy: Doctor? for what? For mommy's head?
Neo: Hinde, face!
Mommy : hahhhhaha
Papap : Hahahha

Ayaw na nya makita ang mga rashes ko sa face kaya magpa doctor na daw ako! Pero di sya sasama!

Neo will be 3 soon

From my perspective, 2010 just came breezing by. It was just like weeks ago when we spent a weekend in Tagaytay celebrating Neo's 2nd birthday. Today, barely only two weeks to go and we are again celebrating his 3rd birthday. Sometimes you ponder, if you just let time pass by, you will really be missing a lot of precious moments. One thing I realized during my recovery time after my operation is to really relish life. Feel it. Savor every moment you have with your child and your family.

Neo will soon be 3 years old. We want him to grow loved and cared for. We will give him the best without spoiling him. We will provide him all the comfort without being over protective. We will give him quality time if we still can't afford to give him all our time (in the meantime).

We want him to always feel that "Papap loves me!" and "Mommy loves me!".

and that, we truly do.

Neo sick

Papap and Neo asleep at the Med City ER (10/06/2010)

Neo's cough worsened last Tuesday that's why we sent him over to the ER of Medical City the next afternoon. I don't like it when Neo gets sick. I pains me too. Anyway, he was administered with paracetamol and was discharged for respiratory tract infection. He was also advised to take CBC and platelet count which turned out to be under normal levels.

We returned two days after for another blood test just to be sure that its not dengue.

Names, names

Neo can say the names of ...

all the major characters of "Cars"
all the lead trains of "Thomas and Friends"
all the main characters of "Finding Nemo"
some of the characters in "Barney"
all the teachers and student teachers in his school
all the kids in his school including all of the yayas!
all the kids in the neighborhood including the yayas!

etc:

he knows how to play with the iphone
he knows how to to load DVDs in the player
he knows Facebook
He knows a "link" when accessing a siye in the internet
he understands "loading" when waiting to open a link
he knows when the internet is down

although these are very late feats, I consider this my accomplishment during my leave of absence...

Neo can now properly brush his teeth
Neo now drinks his medicine!

Cravings

The few days before I was about to be operated, I had a numbed tongue. I don't feel and I can't savour the food that I eat. Wala akong panlasa. And being a delectable eater, I felt frustrated. I said to myself, " I am going to eat the most tasty food after all these are over!".

Right after my operation, all I ate were hospital food. When I went home, although the food that my sister and Val prepared were very good, I was still craving. And then came last Sunday, our thanksgiving dinner. These were the dishes we ordered.

Tada!

Callos. Ritzie's choice. Very, very good!

Ilokano style pinakbet.

Pork sisig and tofu, which came in two variants - crispy and with mayonaise

We ordered to desserts, Blueberry cheesecake na di na nakaabot for picture taking and below was what was left or the turon with vanilla ice cream.

Of couse, what is a meal without ..... Iced tea!

Burp! cravings taken care of. Healthy food next!

First Mass & Thanksgiving dinner

Yesterday, as the Holy Family Parish (Kapitolyo) celebrated the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, Val, Neo and myself heard our first mass after my operation. We offered our gratitude for all the blessings He bestowed upon us and we are very thankful that we survived the battle. We are looking forward to a "new" life under the Lord's guidance and will.

That night, Ruthie, Ritzie, Val, Neo and myself celebrated by way of a thanksgiving dinner at Cafe Juanita.

Neo has a slight fever . He had cough since Saturday. Naulanan when he went to school last Friday. I hope it will soon go away.

after hospital

As I went out of the hospital after my meningioma operation I was so surprised and happy on his development. When I left him, he was just saying few small sentences. After only a week, he can really speak well, tell stories, explain and demand. I missed my son.

1st day of school

Today, Neo went to school!

Yey, skul! skul! was all we can hear from the little boy yesterday morning. We know that we are already late from enrollment but I whispered to Val to rise up go to the Montessori in our area
and try if they can still accommodate.

Well, Casa de Instruccion Montessori, Inc. gladly accepted Neo's application. We paid for the tuition fee and got his uniforms! Mommy and Papap are truly excited. We know that he will do good in school.

+ 1 for me!

Today is my birthday and I'm here in the office doing overtime. Haay, month-end kasi that's why there's no escape.

Sunday, we went home to Cavite. The works in our parent's house is very much underway. They have decided to have it elevated because of the yearly flooding in our area.

Before going home to Kapiitolyo, Val Neo and myself went a little around Baclaran church. We went to church and knocked at the Santo Nino and uttered our small, special wishes. We later had dinner at Lydia's lechon.
